HowTo – Find my Hyper-V VM’s Host Name

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Today I wanted to know a VM’s Host Name, because I was new to the VM. šŸ™‚

So in the registry the VM’s Hostname is visible with the following Key

Registry Key:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Virtual Machine\Guest\Parameters

If this way is too long, the try the following with PowerShell

PowerShell Command:

(get-item “HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Virtual Machine\Guest\Parameters”).GetValue(“HostName”)

So now you are a little bit smarter ;-).

Cheers,

Rolf
